Operating System Layer

The system will be developed for Ubuntu Server. It will be using the latest version of the server which is 11.10 at the time of writing. Most likely the Long Term release for Ubuntu will be 12.04 and this will be the system targetted initially. The system will be updated to work with the latest version as it is released. Further support for other Linux systems (Red Hat/Fedora would be next, then Suse, and perhaps BSD would be after that).

Begrudgingly Windows will probably be supported as all the other technologies will work on it, but what would be the point?
